Restaurants close to us, that we love

Kristians’ list of his favorite local gems

There are several great restaurants in our neighborhood that we can recommend. Here is Kristians’ lists of his favorites:

Le Clay

A cafe with great breakfast, brunch and coffee. The local meeting place for many of the area's trendy gays to come and sit and have a good coffee.

Restaurant Paulette

The team of young but experienced chefs, trained in the best houses with a classic, modern and international vision of gastronomic trends. One of our favorites, not too expensive and located 50 meters away. Good food, friendly service and great wines. Definitely worth a visit.

L'Uzine

Well worth a visit, where you'll find high-level cuisine and a relaxed atmosphere. Good wine list. One of our best restaurants in the area in our opinion. A starter is around 15-18 EUR and a main course is around 30-38 EUR.

Peixes - Bonaparte (Recommended by Michelin)

Between Place Garibaldi and Old Nice, Peixes Opéra's little brother also has a large terrace, very popular on sunny days! We know the winning formula: a variety of iodized dishes (fish, tataki, sashimi, acras, oysters) and ceviche specialties. The modern navy and white bistro setting evokes Portugal and Greece. Behind the counter, a mixologist makes cocktails. Very good value for money for the lunch package. A starter is around 14 EUR and a main course is around 26 EUR.

Epiro (Recommended by Michelin)

After a successful experience in Rome, where they run a very popular bistro, Alessandra and Marco are back in Nice, not far from the port. On the plate, tasty Roman specialties, delicious homemade pasta, generosity and delicacy, without forgetting a lovely Italian wine list: a hit.

Les Agiateurs (1 Michelin star)

Les Agiateurs, located behind the port of Nice is full of talent! Chef Samuel Victori (former number two at Passage 53) and his partner offer sophisticated dishes where textures, cooking and flavors are mastered. They work here with local suppliers: baker, fisherman, gardener, grower, grower, potter, florist... Their mentor: Michel Troisgros. Their credo: original, refreshing, fun recipes that shake up tradition, to be enjoyed in a lively and friendly atmosphere, with attentive service.

JAN (1 Michelin star)

Alternating between chef on private yachts in Monaco and reporter-photographer for a major magazine, young South African Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen has already had several lives... In his small, intimate and romantic hideaway near the harbor, he pens a creative, personal cuisine offered in the form of a single, no-choice menu (5 or 7 courses), playing with sweet-salty associations, smoked, spicy and acidic, providing an overview of South African cuisine. An establishment that delights customers passing through the Riviera. To celebrate these ten years of opening, Chef Jan opened a dining room opposite the restaurant with a buffet composed of more than twenty different cheeses to taste with various drinks, jams and dried fruit.

Cabrol (Recommended by Michelin)

Making chabrol (or chabrot) is an old custom from the south of France, which consists of adding a little wine to a soup base to prolong the broth before swallowing it in big gulps. Here, a stone's throw from the harbor and the old town, two childhood friends highlight quality products in modern recipes, with a touch of originality... and it works!

O Nice (Recommended by Michelin)

O Nice, may your flavors enchant us! Behind this intimate address in the Antique District, we find the endearing and talented Italian-Argentine couple formed by Lorenzo Ragni and Florencia Montes. After a star-studded international career, they met at Mauro Colagreco's Mirazur. Today, together they create sharp and punchy dishes that unite the seasons and local fishing, allowing themselves a certain welcome daring in the flavor combinations: San Remo gamberoni, cherries, tomatoes and fresh almonds; Chanterelles with Mediterranean mussels and zucchini; Delicious coconut beans and Tamari's bay mussels with vadouvan.

L'Atalier (Recommened by Michelin)

Originally from Vendée, the young chef of this house must be a bit "fada"! So you'd think he'd dare to revisit the socca, the uncontested cake made with chickpea flour... And yet, what a success! St. Pierre, Angus beef flank steak and game in season... all washed down with a wine list of around 500 natural wines: a real treat! Here we have had the best beuf bearnaise !

What a bite…

We've eaten at many great restaurants around the world, but the best meal is when you least expect it. Here in Nice, we are surprised time and time again.
