Here on Rue Bonaparte, the most trendy street in Nice according to Lonely Planet Travel Book, we live. Food and cocktails meets trendy and queer.

Place du Pin is named after the pine tree in the middle.

The Old Port of Nice is actually called Port Lympia. Once there was a valley here with the same name. The construction of the port was decided in 1748 by the King of Sardinia, Charles Emmanuel III. It is worth visiting this place by descending from Castle Hill in Nice. We live in the Old Port or more correctly 300 meters from there.

The entrance to the port is marked by a long breakwater, which is terminated by a lighthouse. You can get halfway along the breakwater on foot. The port in Nice has various functions today. There are ferries to Corsica and Sardinia, and cruise ships to, among other places, Saint-Tropez.

Our apartment on Rue Bonaparte is located on Place du Pin approximately 300 meters from the harbour and 150 meters from Place Garibaldi.

The district of Place du Pin owes its name to the famous pine tree that has always been planted in the center of the square. In the beginning, it was a popular and industrial place. Many traditional businesses were located there. In the early 2000s, the neighborhood began a transformation. Without distorting its authenticity, trendy shops, bars and restaurants are popping up. The name "petit marais Niçois" was then born. You can stroll among the ochre facades in a neighborhood that is both authentic and lively. An atmosphere of lightness hovers in this place, which looks like a small town within a town. On the picture above you will see our building just behind the pine tree.

Although it's only at its liveliest when night falls, it's also possible to enjoy it during the day. You can stop for a drink on one of the many sunny terraces. If you're feeling peckish, you can choose from a multitude of restaurants offering modern, high-quality cuisine. And if you're a fan of brunch, there's also a well-known brunch spot for you. When night falls, the Place du Pin becomes even busier. Tourists and locals alike come to party in this area, which will appeal more to those in their thirties and beyond. You can dance the night away over cocktails, while being relatively unspoilt by the hustle and bustle of old Nice.
